COLLEGE JOURNALISTS WRESTLE WITH TRANSPARENCY AS STUDENTS FEAR DEPORTATION FOR SPEAKING OUT
Over the past few weeks, Greta Reich, editor-in-chief of Stanford University’s student newspaper, has had almost two dozen requests to take down quotes, bylines, photos and opinion articles from current and former sources and writers. She and her staff at the Stanford Daily have been reviewing them on a case-by-case basis. “It’s a number that has been startling to see,” Reich said. Other student journalists on college campuses across the country are fielding similar requests. They are being asked to remove previously published content amid the Trump administration’s crackdown on student protestors, fears of deportation for international students and what critics have described as unprecedented attacks on campus speech.

A NEW SIGN THAT AI IS COMPETING WITH COLLEGE GRADS
Something strange, and potentially alarming, is happening to the job market for young, educated workers. According to the New York Federal Reserve, labor conditions for recent college graduates have “deteriorated noticeably” in the past few months, and the unemployment rate now stands at an unusually high 5.8 percent. Even newly minted M.B.A.s from elite programs are struggling to find work. Meanwhile, law-school applications are surging — an ominous echo of when young people used graduate school to bunker down during the great financial crisis.

COLLEGE STUDENT INVENTS STRAW TO DETECT DATE RAPE DRUG
A college student in Providence, Rhode Island, is proving that all it takes is an idea to change the future. Providence College sophomore Neve Palmeri’s plan to prevent the next person's drink from getting spiked is close to becoming a reality, and she tells NBC10 Boston that it took a heavy situation to create the lightest of solutions. Palmeri says her cousin had a terrifying vacation experience in Aruba and could not remember what happened when she woke up.

Did Your High School Student Set Up a LinkedIn Profile Yet?
You may find this surprising, but the minimum age to create a profile on LinkedIn is only 14. While most view it as a career-focused networking platform, getting a head-start on LinkedIn as a high school student has numerous advantages.
College Admissions
With less than 10% of high school students using LinkedIn, a strong, professional profile is a perfect opportunity to stand out from peers on college applications. Although there is no official place for it on the Common App, sharing a profile link in the extra information section may very well pique the interest of admissions officers during the evaluation process. Also, visibility allows teachers to track progress and write stronger letters of recommendation.

SHOP VENDOR SPOTLIGHT — SunnieG’s
Heidi Kleinman and her sister Heather founded SunnieG’s in October 2022, starting as a bachelorette party idea that quickly turned into a brand with a mission. Heidi crafted custom sunglasses for Heather’s bridesmaids’ trip to Las Vegas, and they were an instant hit. As Heather shared, “Everyone wanted a pair of her ‘amazing’ glasses.” This spark led them to turn a creative gift idea into SunnieG’s!
In 2023, Heather’s life was tragically cut short after a routine surgery. Heidi continues SunnieG’s with her sister’s original designs, creating a heartfelt tribute to her sister’s “larger-than-life personality.” With college commitment season in full swing, these personalized glasses are the perfect gift!
